After an exciting opening weekend of action, and one filled with plenty of weather trouble spots, the 2023 NFL regular season is officially underway. Mother Nature had some soggy weather in a lot of places last weekend, but the problem areas should be fewer and farther between for this weekend.
Let’s look at the Week 2 weather report.

NFL Week 2 Weather Report: Advice & Predictions (2023)
(All forecasts courtesy of AccuWeather.com)
Los Angeles Chargers (-3) at Tennessee Titans, Total 45.5
Forecast: 79 degrees, 15% chance of rain
Wind speed: 6-9 MPH
The high-octane pass attack of the Chargers should face little resistance, as far as precipitation or wind, and a dry, fast track will help the run games for both sides, too.
Green Bay Packers at Atlanta Falcons (-1.5), Total 40.5
Forecast: Indoors
Wind speed: This game is played in a dome
The Packers are on the road for the 2nd straight week to open. The elements aren’t the biggest concern, but Atlanta’s two-headed monster in the backfield is a worry.
Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans (-1.5), Total 39.5
Forecast: Indoors
Wind speed: This game is played in a dome
We get a battle between two of the top rookies of the 2023 NFL Draft class, as Colts QB Anthony Richardson and Texans QB C.J. Stroud battle under controlled conditions.
Seattle Seahawks at Detroit Lions (-4.5), Total 47.5
Forecast: Indoors
Wind speed: This game is played in a dome
The Seahawks were pounded in their opener at home, while the Lions play their first game in front of the home fans inside after an impressive road win to open.
Chicago Bears at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-2.5), Total 40.5
Forecast: 87 degrees, 50% chance of rain/thunderstorms
Wind speed: 5-7 MPH
This is one of the biggest areas of concern in terms of weather, and if there was a lightning delay prop, I’d take that bet. We could have a sloppy, wet track meaning more running.
Las Vegas Raiders at Buffalo Bills (-8.5), Total 47
Forecast: 70 degrees, 35% chance of rain
Wind speed: 6-8 MPH
For Buffalo, this forecast is rather docile compared to later in the season. The breeze will be a non-factor, but rain showers could move in during the second half to cause issues.
Kansas City Chiefs (-3.5) at Jacksonville Jaguars, Total 51.5
Forecast: 84 degrees, 65% chance of rain/thunderstorms
Wind speed: 7-9 MPH
There are a lot of questions here. TE Travis Kelce could be held out again if the rain causes slippery conditions, rather than risking a setback. Lightning delays and slop are also a concern.
Baltimore Ravens at Cincinnati Bengals (-3), Total 46.5
Forecast: 72 degrees, 20% chance of rain
Wind speed: 6-8 MPH
The Jungle should be rather tame, as far as the weather is concerned, for this AFC North Division battle. The biggest concern for Cincinnati is avoiding an 0-2 hole to start.
New York Giants (-4.5) at Arizona Cardinals, Total 39.5
Forecast: Indoors
Wind speed: This game is played in a dome.
The Giants will head to the desert, hoping that it is a scoring oasis after being blanked in embarrassing fashion on Sunday night in the rain. At least it will be much dryer than last week.
San Francisco 49ers (-7) at Los Angeles Rams, Total 45
Forecast: Indoors
Wind speed: This game is played in a dome.
Both of these NFC West Division combatants looked good on the road in Week 1. Both of these teams are inside for the first time this season after playing in the elements in the opener.
New York Jets at Dallas Cowboys (-9.5), Total 38.5
Forecast: Indoors
Wind speed: This game is played in a dome.
Jets QB Zach Wilson makes his first start of the season, and at least weather won’t be a factor. LB Micah Parsons could certainly rain on his parade, however.
Washington Commanders at Denver Broncos (-3.5), Total 39.5
Forecast: 80 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation
Wind speed: 4-6 MPH
After playing in slippery conditions at home in the nation’s capital, the Commanders will find the weather rather pleasant in the Mile Hile City in Week 2.
Miami Dolphins (-3) at New England Patriots, Total 46.5
Forecast: 66 degrees, 5% chance of precipitation
Wind speed: 3-5 MPH
If this game was played Saturday, the effects of a passing Hurricane Lee might have been felt. But the rain and wind will be long gone into the Canadian Maritimes by kickoff.
New Orleans Saints (-3) at Carolina Panthers, Total 40
Forecast: 72 degrees, 5% chance of rain
Wind speed: 3-5 MPH
It will be rather serene weather in the Queen City, with indoor-like conditions at twilight for this NFC South battle and Monday night undercard.
Cleveland Browns (-2.5) at Pittsburgh Steelers, Total 38.5
Forecast: 64 degrees, 10% chance of rain
Wind speed: 4-6 MPH
The cool weather award of the week goes to the Steel City. While the temperatures will feel fall-like, the intensity and hatred of these rivals will certainly be heated.
